Poll: Chicago casino support growing

A new poll shows growing support for a casino in Chicago.

The Chicago Tribune poll finds 47 percent of Chicago voters now back a city-owned casino, while 41 percent oppose it.

Those numbers are almost the exact opposite of a similar poll taken in 2003.

The shift comes as Chicago struggles with a budget crisis that could lead to tax increases and service cuts.

Next month, state lawmakers will consider a gambling expansion plan that includes a land-based city casino.
