There are both matinees and evening concerts.
This year's theme is gifts and gift-giving, particularly the cultural gifts that Chicago gives to the world. The first half of the program this year is a musical retelling of O. Henry's classic tale "The Gift of the Magi" -- the story of young married couple Jim and Della and their thoughtfulness and love for each other during the holiday season -- through song, acting and dance.
The second half of the program has a modern-day Jim and Della discovering the delights of Christmas in Chicago, and features an appearance by Santa Claus as well as some other special surprises.
Tickets start at $20. To buy tickets, head to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra web site www.cso.org
