Chicago Symphony Orchestra presents 'Welcome Yule!'

December 19, 2010 8:01:55 AM PST
The Chicago Symphony Orchestra and chorus production of ''Welcome Yule!'' runs through Dec. 23 at the Chicago Symphony.

There are both matinees and evening concerts.

This year's theme is gifts and gift-giving, particularly the cultural gifts that Chicago gives to the world. The first half of the program this year is a musical retelling of O. Henry's classic tale "The Gift of the Magi" -- the story of young married couple Jim and Della and their thoughtfulness and love for each other during the holiday season -- through song, acting and dance.

The second half of the program has a modern-day Jim and Della discovering the delights of Christmas in Chicago, and features an appearance by Santa Claus as well as some other special surprises.

Tickets start at $20. To buy tickets, head to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra web site
