Woman speaks out after alleged rape in Roseland

December 29, 2010 (CHICAGO)

"If you are going to be walking outside at night, please have somebody with you. Have somebody meet you somewhere, take a cab, see if you can get a ride," said the 26-year-old mother of one who did not want to identify herself.

She says that on Monday night she was walking from a bus stop at 119th and Loomis to a relative's house. When she got lost, a man who had been following her forced her into an alley near 117th and Throop.

"A male come up behind me and grabbed me and put me in a chokehold. And he had, it felt like, a gun to the temple of my head," the woman told ABC7.

She said the man sexually assaulted her, then told her to count to 100 as he walked away.

Chicago police have issued an alert. A similar attack happened two weeks ago near 122nd and South Michigan.
