A 4-year-old boy with a sweet tooth went on a candy run in the middle of the night in northwest suburban Arlington Heights.

The boy left his house around 3 a.m. Tuesday to see if he could get some candy at a gas station. A driver spotted him walking along Arlington Heights Road and called police.

By then, the boy had made it back home safely. Police tracked his boot prints in the snow to an apartment on Circle Hill Drive.

The boy's mother was asleep when he left. No charges were filed.
