In a statement released Saturday, John Michael Bailey writes that he regrets upsetting people and hurting Northwestern's reputation.
But he also says that he sees "absolutely no harm" in what happened.
The incident took place after a class on human sexuality on February 21.
Bailey invited students to stay for the demonstration that he repeatedly warned would be graphic.
University administrators are investigating.
