The accident happened just after midnight when United Express flight 5916 arrived at the Akron-Canton Airport from O'Hare.
None of the 44 passengers or three crew members was hurt.
The plane came to rest in the grass near the midpoint of the runway. Weather conditions at the airport were dry at the time.
"When we did land, I noticed that we weren't slowing down at All. And then, he made a really hard left on the plan, and I had to brace myself against the side wall," said Michelle Scott, passenger.
"For me, it was awesome. I've never got to have an experience like that, for a plane to go off right before we were there," said Jacob Stasko, passenger.
The children seemed to handle the situation pretty well.
The National Transportation Safety Board is now investigating what went wrong.
