A benefit was scheduled in Indiana Sunday for a wounded Army Sgt. 1st Class John Masson.

Masson received a hero's welcome when he returned home to Lake Station in January.

Masson was injured in Afghanistan last October and lost his arm and two legs.

Local members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Military Order of the Purple Heart teamed up Sunday to sponsor an event for Masson.

The fundraiser was set for 2 p.m. at the Jean Shephard Community Center in Hammond.
