Investigators are trying to determine what caused a fire at a former battery factory on Chicago's North Side.

The fire broke out about 1 p.m. at 2456 West Irving Park Road near Western Avenue. The building once housed a company called Illinois Battery Specialists. Hazardous material teams were called in as a precaution in case any batteries were still in the building.

There were apartments on the second floor of the building, but no one was injured.
