Oak Park movie theater turns 75 years old

On Monday, there was a big celebration to mark the 75th birthday of the historic Lake Theatre in west suburban Oak Park.

There was a ribbon cutting ceremony and a birthday cake.

The art deco theater first opened its doors on April 11, 1936.

Monday's festivities included two free screenings of the first film to be shown at the theater -- "The Ghost Goes West."
