Winnetka held its first public hearing on an affordable housing plan before the village council.
If adopted, new developments in the suburb would have to include housing options for households with an annual income of less than $105,000.
Supporters say that would help young families and seniors, many who cannot currently afford to live in Winnetka.
Opponents argue it would drive down property values.
