Residency challenge cost Rahm Emanuel $800K

April 18, 2011 (CHICAGO)

More than two dozen objectors argued Emanuel was not eligible to run because he did not meet the city's one-year residency requirement. An appellate court sided with objectors, but the Illinois Supreme Court eventually ruled Emanuel could be on the ballot.

The report filed with the state elections board also shows Emanuel raised more than $14.5 million for his campaign.
