Daley to rename street for Oprah Winfrey

May 11, 2011 (CHICAGO)

Daley's last day in office is quickly approaching- and the mayor's keeping busy. On Wednesday he will rename a section of Carpenter Street in the city's West Loop neighborhood that borders Harpo Studios for Winfrey, who is in her final season.

Also, Daley plans to visit Little Village, where he will see a new fire engine and go to a library. After that he will be back at City Hall to discuss economic development.

Daley has been visiting Chicago's neighborhoods as part of his farewell tour. On Monday, he greeted thousands of people at an open house at City Hall.

Daley will retire after 22 years next Monday. He will be followed by Mayor-elect Rahm Emanuel, who has several events planned for the inauguration.
