Memorial Day is chance to remember those who have died serving our country, and during a ceremony Friday, the family of one of those heroes presented his Medal of Honor to the Wheaton school that bears his name.

James Howard Monroe died in Vietnam when he jumped on a live grenade. His actions saved the lives of two fellow soldiers. In 1969, the middle school was named after him.

Monroe's niece, Michelle Gattas attended Friday's ceremony. She called it an "awesome celebration." The program was broadcast live for U.S. troops stationed in Afghanistan.
