The head of Chicago Public Schools appears to be getting an annual salary that is $20,000 more than his predecessor.

Jean-Claude Brizard says his salary will remain at $250,000 per year, after it was approved in May by the outgoing school board as a temporary measure.

The new school board is now negotiating a final contract that includes a performance evaluation, which is a condition Brizard wants to put in place for teachers.

The 47-year-old is a former superintendent in Rochester, New York.
