About 75 soldiers in the 710th Area Support Medical Company have spent months training for what they expected to be a year in Kuwait.
They were scheduled to leave in November to support the new phase of operations in Iraq, but because of the drawdown of forces in Iraq, the deployment has been canceled.
Soldiers who have already arranged to put their civilian careers and education on hold may qualify for a hardship tour.
