A 32-year-old man confined to a wheelchair has died in a Friday morning fire at his south suburban Calumet City home.

The blaze broke out just before 5 a.m. on Imperial Avenue. There was not much visible damage, except for the hole firefighters cut in the roof of the home.

Flames were visible when firefighters arrived. But they were able to quickly put the fire out.

The victim has been identified as Eric G. Salazar.

The cause of the fire is possibly electrical, but is still under investigation by the Calumet City Fire Department.
