Vitamin D supplements recommended for fair-skinned

Fair-skinned people prone to sunburn may need to take supplements to ensure they get enough vitamin D.

Those with lighter skin may not be deficient in this vitamin, but they may still be lacking in vitamin D, which the body makes from sunlight.

The Cancer Research UK-funded team says that even with a lot of sun exposure those with fair skin may still not be able to make enough vitamin D.

Increasing sun exposure could increase the chances of skin cancer. For this reason, more sun is not the answer, but researchers say taking supplements could be.
