Suburban 911 dispatchers strike averted

October 6, 2011 (ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill.)

The union which represents dispatchers at the Northwest Central Dispatch System negotiated with management into the early hours. Just after midnight Thursday, both sides reached tentative agreement on many issues, and agreed to mediate the remaining items.

The dispatchers cover 11 communities from Streamwood to Mount Prospect. They had threatened to walk off the job later Thursday if an agreement was not reached.
