Starved Rock State Park is celebrating its 100th anniversary on Sunday.

The park started with 280 acres bought by the state in 1911. It's now ten times that size.

Situated along the Illinois river in Lasalle County, the park is best known for its rock formations which were formed more than 400 million years ago.

The park's 2 million annual visitors are an economic engine for Lasalle County.
