Students returned to class at a North Side elementary school Monday morning after a suspicious item was found near a door to the building.

It appears that item was a toy grenade that had been left outside Oscar Mayer School at Racine and Webster in the Lincoln Park neighborhood.

The school was closed during the investigation.

Officials gave the all-clear just before 9 a.m. and students were allowed into the school.
