About 100 Chicago area Holocaust survivors were among those attending the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum luncheon Monday.

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel was among the speakers at the special event held at the Chicago Sheraton Hotel and Towers.

Emanuel spoke about visiting Dachau with Night author and Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel and President Barack Obama, as well as taking his family to the museum.

Several local residents were honored for their dedication to the national museum.
