Worker struck by freight train in Joliet

A worker in a high-lift cherry picker was struck by a passing freight train and fell about 80 feet to the ground.

It happened in Joliet just after 3 a.m. on the Interstate 80 overpass near the Des Plaines River.

The condition of the worker is not known.

The worker was part of a construction crew working on the underside of an overpass.

A second person on the ground was also hit, but not seriously hurt.
