Ex-Chicago cops accused of working for Latin Kings

November 21, 2011 (CHICAGO)

Prosecutors say Alex Guerrero and Antonio Martinez Jr. used their badges to commit armed robberies in exchange for cash. Federal investigators say the pair were working for the Latin Kings street gang in Chicago and Indiana.

On Monday, prosecutors called Guerrero a danger to the community and asked a judge to deny his request for bond.

"This man has never been in trouble in his life. He's 40 something years old. He's been employed 15-16 years, I believe. He's got a wife, kids, he's lived here his whole life. This is really a shame," said

Guerrero and Martinez were arrested Friday and charged with racketeering. Thirteen others were arrested and indicted as part of the investigation.
