A mother and her boyfriend are charged in connection with the beating death of her 4-year-old son on the boy's birthday.Christopher Valdez died Friday of blunt force injuries from child abuse.
Cesar Ruiz, 34, is charged with first degree murder. The boy's mother, Crystal Valdez, 28, is charged with the concealment of a homicidal death and endangering the life of a child.
Both are due in court Monday.
