Daley Bicentennial Plaza to get major makeover

December 7, 2011 (CHICAGO)

The preliminary designs will be unveiled Wednesday night by the New York design team hired for the revamping of the space.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports the new plans include a 20-acre stretch of lawn, an ice skating ribbon, a climbing wall, playgrounds and areas for biking and skateboarding.

Work on the area, which is bounded by Columbus, Lake Shore Drive, Randolph and Monroe, is set to begin next fall.
