CTA to get $20M to speed up Blue Line

The CTA is getting a $20-million federal grant to help eliminate slow zones on the Blue Line between the Loop and O'Hare.

Trains must move slowly through the zones because of deteriorating track on more than three-and-a-half miles of the route between the Damen and Belmont stops on the Northwest Side.

This is the last section of Blue Line track that will undergo repairs.

The funding comes from the U.S. Department of Transportation.

Chicago is the only U.S. city that provides public rail transit to two major airports.
