Tanning beds linked to common form of skin cancer

They've already been linked to melanoma, the most dangerous form of skin cancer. Now, new research shows tanning beds may have something to do with a more common form of skin cancer.

Scientists at the Yale School of Public Health found that young people who tanned on the indoor beds had a 69 percent increased chance of suffering from early-onset basal cell carcinoma.

Researchers say this seems especially true in females and may explain why some 70 percent of these cancers are seen in women.

They also noted that the risks increased with the number of years the tanning beds had been used.
