December 14, 2011 (CHICAGO)

The governor launched a new program Wednesday called welcome home heroes. The program is designed to help assist Illinois veterans and service members buy a home. Those eligible for the program will receive a grant of up $10,000 to use towards their purchase.

"I don't think there is a better holiday present, Dhristmas present that we can give our veterans than to help them get a home," said Quinn.

Quinn says the program will also create more than 400 jobs throughout Illinois.

The Welcome Home Heroes application is free. For more information, visit www.ihda.org/homeowner/heroes.htm.
