Short workouts can be as good as long workouts

If lack of time is an excuse for not exercising, a new report suggests several short intensive workouts may still do the body good, especially if you have type-2 diabetes.

The small study shows that 30 minutes of short bursts of exercise may help lower blood sugar levels.

Researchers say the body's response is the same as what's seen in more regular exercise regimens. They say the brief high intensity workouts, as little as six sessions over a two week period, rapidly reduce sugar concentrations and reduced sugar spikes after meals.

Details are in the Journal of Applied Physiology.
