Nineteen-year-old Kenneth Cooper is charged with two counts of possession of a stolen motor vehicle.
Investigators say both cars were abandoned on Metra's North Central Service Line in Des Plaines and were struck by Metra trains in late November and early December.
Niles police arrested Cooper in a stolen vehicle one day after the latest crash. They say they traced property recovered from Cooper to one of the abandoned vehicles.
