Chicago cabbies call for 22 percent fare hike

December 20, 2011 (CHICAGO)

In addition to the fare increase, drivers want a $1 fee for each additional passenger, a $50 fee for fraudulent credit card transactions, and a $75 fee for drunken passengers who make a mess inside cabs.

Alderman Anthony Beale, the chairman of the City Council Committee on Transportation, says aldermen will work with cabbies to find the best solutions that benefit them as well as consumers.
