Gift cards No. 1 item on holiday wish lists

Gift cards may seem like a great last-minute gift but new research discovered some people don't use them.

For the fifth year in a row, gift cards were the number one item on holiday wish lists.

The National Retail Federation expects gift cards to reach a record $28 billion in sales this year. But a new survey conducted by the federation revealed that $41 billion in gift cards have not been redeemed since 2005.
