Hodgkin's survivor brings 'comfort' blankets to patients

December 28, 2011 (CHICAGO)

Katie Widmar was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma shortly after she turned 18. During her treatment she kept a fleece blanket from home with her at all times for warmth and to remind her of home.

Now, cancer-free for five years, Widmar spent the day delivering fleece blankets just like hers to cancer patients hospitalized during the holidays.

Widmar calls her giveaway program "Covers of Comfort." She and her mom have delivered the blankets in years past and hope to keep doing it on an annual basis.
