Sun-Times sports columnist dies

Longtime Sun-Times sports columnist Lacy Banks has died.

Banks lost a long battle with cancer Wednesday. He was the first African-American sportswriter for the Sun-Times, joining the paper in 1972.

He spent most of his career covering the Bulls and ranked among the longest tenured pro basketball writers in the country.

Banks was also a Baptist minister.

Lacy Banks was 68 years old.
