Rapper, Chicago native Common hosts local gala

Star power in downtown Chicago Saturday night as celebrities shine a light on men who've made a positive impact in the African American community.

The Ritz Carlton Hotel hosted the annual gala and fundraiser for The Common Ground Foundation.

It was started by rapper and Chicago native Common and helps develop youth in underserved communities.

This year the foundation is honoring Harry Belafonte.

ABC 7's Cheryl Burton emceed the event.

Other honorees tonight include Chicago Bear Israel Idonije, Boeing Corporation executive vice president James A. Bell and Million Dollar Scholar founder Derrius Quarles.
