The government launched a website to track wireless carriers' attempts to warn customers when they approach the limits of their cell phone plans.

The Federal Trade Commission's "bill shock" website monitors whether each wireless carrier alerts customers who may go over the limit for their plan for calls, data, texting and international roaming.

Last year, the FCC required wireless companies to warn customers so they can avoid excessive fees for exceeding their calling plan limits.
