The CTA will begin putting newer rail cars back in service this weekend after safety concerns forced officials to remove them.

The transit agency had taken the cars by Bombardier of Canada out of service in December after it found defective parts in the wheel assemblies. Those parts have been removed.

Some cars were set to operate on the CTA's Pink Line this weekend.
