ComEd customers to see 2.5 pct drop on bill

ComEd customers will see a slight dip in their electric bills starting this month.

Bills will drop 2.5 percent, or about $2 a month.

The Chicago Tribune reports the decrease is because of a lower rate of return for ComEd under a new formula used to determine electricity rates.

The reductions are temporary.

Starting next January, electric rates are expected to increase as ComEd undergoes a 10-year upgrade of the electrical grid.
