Police torture panel files 3 new cases

June 13, 2012 (CHICAGO)

The Illinois Torture Inquiry and Relief Commission was formed in 2009 in response to allegations that Chicago Police Commander Jon Burge and his detectives tortured suspects. But, just three years later, the commission is expected to shut down for lack of funding.

Wednesday's rulings by the panel could lead to new trials or even the dismissal of the cases against the three inmates.
