A 17-year-long Chinese study shows people regularly exposed to second-hand smoke are more likely to die of numerous causes than people who spent similar amounts of time in smoke-free environments.

Among other diseases, deaths by stroke and emphysema were higher among second hand smoke recipients.

Those two diseases historically have only shown weak links with second-hand smoke. The study's findings appear in the latest issue of the medical journal Chest.
