Some towns in Chicago's northwest suburbs are joining forces for July Fourth fireworks.

Some of the communities canceled or scaled down shows in recent years because they could not afford them.

According to ABC7 news partner the Daily Herald, Elgin, Hanover Park, Hanover Township and Hoffman Estates are banding together to pay for fireworks at the Northwest Fourth Fest from July 4 through July 8.

Also, suburban Mt. Prospect is collecting donations with its "Bang for a Buck" campaign.
