The 34 miles of new bike lanes are part of a planned nearly 650-mile network of biking facilities, which are set to be in place by 2020.
By the end of this year the city says it will have created 34 miles of new paths. One will run on Dearborn from Kinzie to Polk, while another connects Lincoln and Clark.
When the whole plan is finished there will be neighborhood routes to help cyclists go across the city and spoke routes the help them commute to downtown.
