Study: Corticosteroids don't ease sinus infection symptoms

A new study finds that despite their increasing popularity, corticosteroids do not seem to ease the symptoms of this common infection. In the study in the Canadian Medical Association Journal, scientists found the symptoms of sinus infections lasted just as long in the steroid group as they did in the placebo group.

Scientists say their study suggests that steroids are not beneficial for the large population. Experts say nasal spray decongestants and saline irrigation products can help relieve symptoms.
