There is a push to consider raising radiation limits for smart phones in the US.

The Government Accountability Office is asking the Federal Communications Commission to update its 16-year-old phone radiation standard and bring it in line with current health research and the way people now use smart phones.

It suggests following newer international standards that would increase US radiation limits by 20 percent and improve the function of cell phones.
