Emanuel: City Colleges deal could be model for CPS

September 3, 2012 (CHICAGO)

The City Colleges agreement was announced over the weekend. It comes about 10 months before the current contract expires. The mayor called the deal "progressive."

"The lessons out of the community colleges, if you're trying to draw a parallel: the community college mission is now a career-based education. The mission of CPS: the education of our children. And the agreements can help us achieve that," said Emanuel.

The City Colleges board of trustees is scheduled to vote on the contract during a meeting on September 13th.
