The CTA has unanimously approved its controversial plan aimed at reducing crowd congestion on some of its most popular routes.

The plan will eliminate 12 of what the transit agency calls "duplicative" or "low-ridership routes."

The CTA will then add services at no additional costs to riders or taxpayers to high demand routes across the city.

The crowd reduction plan will go into effect this December.
