Assets auction for Dixon's Crundwell

September 23, 2012 (DIXON, Ill.)

The U.S. Marshals Service is conducting the auction.

Crundwell had amassed a high-end horse-breeding operation through what prosecutors say was felony theft of $53 million of Dixon's town treasury.

One of her horses was sold on Sunday for a bid of $775,000.

The auction continues Monday.

If Crundwell is convicted, proceeds will go toward restitution to the City of Dixon.
