"I love the exhibit," Natasha Casanova said. "It is fantastic. It really explores our Latin American roots."
"The story of American Sabor is the story of Latinos migrating to America and settling in different cities contributing and blending into American pop culture," Jorge Felix, Puerto Rican Arts Alliance, said.
"Sabor" in Spanish means taste- and is commonly used to describe good music. Latino musicians have had an influence on jazz, R&B, rock 'n' roll and hip hop.
"It highlights the contribution of Latin music in America from the 1940's to the present," Carlos Hernandez, Puerto Rican Arts Alliance, said.
American Sabor is a traveling Smithsonian exhibit, presented by the Puerto Rican Arts Alliance. The free exhibit runs through October 7 at U.S. Bank/PRAA Exhibit Hall, 2958 N Milwaukee Avenue in Chicago. Gallery hours are Tues-Friday, from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday/Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Find out more at praachicago.org
