Nearly 80 percent of the Chicago Teachers Union's members voted to ratify a new contract, the union said late Wednesday night.

CTU said it was the highest approval rate for a contract in its history.

The Chicago Board of Education has to approve the contract before it goes into effect.

CTU members have been without a contract since June.
