Man in custody after barricade situation in Gurnee

October 19, 2012 (GURNEE, Ill.)

Students who had already arrived to school before the lockdown began will be transported home when it is resolved. Classes are canceled for the day. Parents whose children are already at the school are asked to refrain from attempting to pick up their children.

School has been canceled at the O'Plaine campus. The Almond campus will continue to run on the normal daily schedule.

The status of all O'Plaine after-school activities has yet to be decided.

Police are releasing few details. But a man is apparently holed up inside a home near the campus of schools.

The police activity has reportedly prompted a lockdown of the high school, junior high and an elementary school at the O'Plaine campus.

Warren Township High School and River Trail School are affected, with some children being bused to Viking Middle School until the situation is resolved. Traffic in the area is heavy.
